County Will Force Businesses to Offer Sick Leave

No one likes to work when they’re sick. Some would probably prefer it to being sick at the beach, but everyone probably can agree they don’t want to be forced to work sick. Unfortunately, at some jobs, people do not receive sick leave and can be penalized for being sick. Montgomery County is doing something about it. At the end of last month, the County Council passed a bill that for every thirty hours one works, he must receive one hour of sick leave, up to 7 per year. There are special rules for companies with <5 employees.

Today, the County Executive will be signing this bill, hopefully solving this problem.
