World of Montgomery Festival

Volunteers are needed for the Fourth Annual World of Montgomery Festival that will be held on Sunday, October 21 from noon to 5 p.m. in downtown Wheaton. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available and individuals can sign up by visiting the website. High school and middle school students can earn SSL (Student Service Learning) hours.

This free, outdoor event will provide fun entertainment for the whole family that celebrates, explores and shares the rich cultural heritage of Montgomery County. The activities planned for the festival will showcase this rich diversity through music, dance, visual art and storytelling. The International Village exhibition tents organized by this year’s partner, KID Museum (Kids International Discovery Museum) will feature China, El Salvador, Ethiopia and India and provide kids and adults alike the information they need to be successful citizens in the world of the 21st century.

A variety of food vendors and community chefs from around the world will offer visitors the opportunity to sample a portion of the culinary diversity for which the County is known. In addition, the Latino Economic Development Corporation, a partner in organizing the festival, will present a Pupusa cook-off and the Fenton Street Market will provide a wide array of international crafts. There will be two stages with music and entertainment, an international youth film festival and crafts and community service projects for kids.
